Engineered to deliver a uniform 360° ring of compressed air, they excel at cleaning, drying, and cooling round profiles—such as removing contaminants from cable, drying tubing, or cooling extruded materials.

Utilizing the Coandă effect, our Air Wipes amplify compressed air output by a factor of 30:1, reducing energy consumption while maintaining exceptional performance. They are available in anodized aluminum for general industrial use and stainless steel for high-temperature or corrosive environments, ensuring long-lasting durability.

A convenient two-piece, open-and-close design allows for quick installation around existing materials, while 1/4″-20 mounting holes make setup simple and secure. Types of Air Wipes We Offer

Regular Aluminum Air Wipe
The Regular Aluminum Air Wipe is designed for use in non-corrosive environments where operating temperatures do not exceed 150°F (66°C). It features a durable construction that includes a PVC air hose, anodized aluminum body, stainless steel screws, stainless steel shims, and brass fittings. This model provides reliable, efficient performance for general industrial applications.

Stainless Steel High-Temperature Air Wipe
Our Stainless Steel High-Temperature Air Wipes offer superior corrosion resistance and are engineered for extreme environments with temperatures up to 800°F (427°C). They are constructed with a stainless steel body, stainless steel screws, stainless steel shims, a braided stainless steel air hose, and stainless steel fittings. This heavy-duty design ensures long-term durability in demanding, high-heat or corrosive applications.

How Does an Air Wipe Work?

  1. Compressed Air Inlet Compressed air enters the Air Wipe through a standard 1/4″ NPT female inlet and fills the internal plenum chamber.
  2. High-Velocity Airflow Formation The air is forced through a precision-engineered annular gap at high velocity, where it follows the Coandă profile—a curved surface that directs the airflow into a uniform, cone-shaped ring around the product passing through the center.
  3. Air Amplification Through Entrainment As the high-speed air exits the gap, it entrains surrounding ambient air, resulting in an impressive 30:1 air amplification ratio. This means a small amount of compressed air pulls in a much larger volume of free air.
  4. 360° High-Force Air Stream The amplified, cone-shaped 360° air curtain exits the Air Wipe with a strong, consistent force. This makes it highly effective for cleaning, cooling, and drying wire, cable, tubing, hose, pipe, and other round profiles—without requiring mechanical contact

Important Information

Supreme Air Products™ Air Wipes are available in a range of sizes from 1/2″ to 6″ to accommodate various wire, cable, tubing, and extrusion diameters. Each unit features a two-piece, open-and-shut design for quick and easy installation around existing materials—without interrupting production.

Air Wipes are supplied with a 0.002″ stainless steel shim, which is suitable for most standard applications. For situations requiring increased blow – off force – such as removing thick oils, heavy contaminants, or sticky residues – additional shims are available and can be installed to boost performance.

Sizes

Air Wipes are available in seven standard stocked inside diameters (I.D.):
1/2″ (13 mm), 1″ (25 mm), 2″ (51 mm), 3″ (76 mm), 4″ (102 mm), 5″ (127 mm), and 6″ (152 mm).
Custom sizes are available upon request.

Mounting

Multiple 1/4-20 mounting holes are located on the back face of the Air Wipe.

Shims

Each Air Wipe includes a .002″ (.05 mm) stainless steel shim pre-installed.
Additional shims may be added to increase both force and airflow.

Compressed Air Inlet(s)

  • The Air Wipe includes two (2) 1/4″ NPTF compressed air inlets, one on each half.
  • A PVC or stainless steel braided hose is provided to distribute compressed air between both halves.
  • For special-order units 9″ (229 mm) I.D. and larger, each half must be supplied with its own compressed air source to maintain a uniform airflow.

Air Supply Filtration

For optimal performance, a clean, dry compressed air supply is essential.
We recommend a Supreme Air Products™ 5-micron auto-drain filter, properly sized to prevent airflow restrictions.

Air Regulation

A pressure regulator installed on the air supply line allows full control over air consumption, force, and flow.
All Deluxe Kits include a properly sized regulator with gauge and a 5-micron air filter by Supreme Air Products™.

Use the lowest pressure that effectively solves your application needs. Begin with low pressure and slowly increase it using a pressure regulator until the desired cleaning, drying, or cooling result is achieved.
The maximum operating pressure for the Air Wipe is 250 PSIG.

No. Connecting a vortex tube’s cold end to an Air Wipe will cause severe airflow restriction, immediately creating back pressure exceeding 5 PSIG. This will negatively impact vortex tube performance and should never be done.
Air Wipes use the Coandă effect to amplify compressed air up to 30:1, pulling in surrounding ambient air to create a high-volume, efficient 360° airflow. This delivers superior cleaning, drying, and cooling performance while using only a fraction of the compressed air required by drilled-pipe solutions—making Air Wipes far more efficient and cost-effective.
The airflow strikes the material passing through the center at a 30° angle (a 60° included angle), ensuring even and complete coverage around the entire profile.

Supreme Air Products™ Air Wipes are available in:

  • Anodized Aluminum – for standard industrial environments
  • Type 303 Stainless Steel – for high-temperature or corrosive applications

Type 316 Stainless Steel models can also be manufactured on special request.

Supreme Air Products™ Air Wipes offer two mounting methods:

  • Rigid Compressed Air Piping
    The pipe supplying compressed air can also be used as a structural support.
  • 1/4″-20 Mounting Holes
    Located on the bottom of the Air Wipe (1/2″ depth), these allow easy installation using a custom bracket or factory-designed mounting hardware.
