Air Wipe Blow Off System by Supreme Air Products
Supreme Air Products Air Wipes provide a uniform 360º airflow that is ideal for cleaning, drying, and blow-off applications. They can also be used to cool extruded shapes, hoses, pipes, cables, wires and other profiles. Air wipes are highly efficient because they utilize the coanda effect to achieve an amplification ratio of 30:1.
What is an Air Wipe?
Supreme Air Products offers air wipes in aluminum construction for standard applications and stainless-steel construction for Hi-Temperature applications. 1/4″-20 mounting holes on the back face ensure quick and simple installation.
Type of Air Wipes We Carry?
The Regular Aluminum Air Wipe is best suited for applications in non-corrosive environments where temperatures do not exceed 150°F (66°C). It is constructed using a PVC air hose, aluminum body, stainless steel screws, stainless steel shims, and brass fittings.
Stainless Steel Hi-Temperature Air Wipes resist corrosion and is ideal for high temperatures up to 800°F (427°C). It is constructed using stainless steel body, stainless steel screws, and stainless steel shims, braided stainless steel hose, stainless steel fittings.

How does an Air wipe work?
(1) Compressed air flows through a standard 1/4″ NPT female inlet into a plenum chamber.
(2) The compressed air is then forced through a small gap at high velocity. It follows the coanda profile and is angled to create a cone shaped air stream.
(3) The surrounding air is entrained into the primary air stream, creating a 30:1 amplification ratio.
(4) The cone shaped air stream exits the air wipe with a hard hitting force which is ideal for cleaning, cooling, and drying various surfaces and objects.
Important Information
Supreme Air Products Air Wipes are offered in various sizes ranging from 1/2” to 6”. They feature a two piece “open and shut” design which allows for easy mounting. Air Wipes come preinstalled with a .002” shim which is suitable for most applications. Additional shims can be purchased for special applications where additional blow-off force is needed, such as removing thick oils and cleaning sticky substances.
Air Wipe Specifications
Air Wipes are offered in seven standard stocked diameters: (I.D.) of 1/2″ (13 mm), 1″ (25 mm), 2″ (51 mm), 3″ (76 mm), 4″ (102 mm), 5″ (127 mm) and 6″ (152 mm). Custom sizes available upon request.
Materials: Air Wipe Unit: Aluminum or Stainless Steel Shims: Stainless Steel Screws: Stainless Steel Hose: PVC or Braided Stainless Steel Fittings: Brass or Stainless Steel
Mounting: There are multiple 1/4-20 mounting holes on the back face of the air wipe. Please see the “Dimensions” tab for a complete PDF drawing.
Shims: The Air Wipe comes pre-installed with a .002″ (.05 mm) Stainless Steel shim. Both force and flow can be increased by adding additional shims.
Compressed Air Inlet(s): Air Wipe has (2) 1/4″ NPTF compressed air inlets; one on each half. A PVC or stainless steel braided hose is supplied to distribute the compressed air to each side of the Air Wipe. For special order sizes of 9″ (229 mm) and above, each half must be supplied with its own compressed air to ensure a uniform airflow.
Air Supply Filtration: To achieve the best performance, it’s vital to use a clean and dry source of compressed air. We recommend using a Supreme Air Products 5-micron auto-drain filter, which is properly sized in order to avoid airflow restrictions.
Air Regulation: A pressure regulator installed on the compressed air supply line will provide air pressure adjustment which will allow for total control of consumption, force and flow! All of our Deluxe Kits include a regulator /w gauge that is properly sized for flow and 5 micron air filter.

Air Wipe FAQs
Below is a list of Frequently Asked Questions relating to our Aluminum Air Wipes. If you need additional help with your application and/or can’t find an answer to your question, please call our factory at 1-289-236-2001 or email an Application Engineer at sales@supremeairproducts.com.
1. What is the recommended pressure that should be used with the Air Wipe?
Always try to use the lowest pressure that is possible for your application. Always use a pressure regulator to increase force/airflow to the point where your application problem is rectified. The maximum pressure of the Air Wipe is 250 PSIG.
2. Can I connect the cold end of a Vortex Tube to an Air Wipe?
No. This would cause an airflow restriction that would instantly produce back-pressure in excess of 5 PSIG! When this back-pressure is exceeded, the performance of the Vortex Tube will be negatively impacted.
3. Why use the Air Wipe, instead of the compressed air pipe with holes drilled in it?
The compressed air is amplified with a 30:1 ratio using the surrounding air to produce its high volume airflow. This will provide enough airflow to dry, cool, and clean while paying a fraction of the cost it would be to that of using straight compressed air.
4. What is the angle of the airflow from the Air Wipe?
The product traveling through the Air Wipe is hit by the airflow at a 30° angle (60° included angle)
5. What are the materials of construction for the Air Wipe?
The SUPREME AIR PRODUCTS™ Air Wipe is available in Aluminum, and Type 303 Stainless Steel for high temperature and/or corrosive applications. Type 316 Stainless Air Wipes can be manufactured upon special request.
6. How can I mount the Air Wipe?
There are two (2) ways you can mount the SUPREME AIR PRODUCTS™ Air Wipe.
- Use ridged compressed air pipe to the support unit.
- 1/4″-20 mounting holes on the bottom of the air wipe. The holes are 1/2″ depth thread, ideal for a bracket fabricated by the customer.
