What does it do?

By utilizing a high-efficiency 40:1 air amplification ratio, the Supreme model entrains massive amounts of ambient air, meaning it uses roughly 25% less compressed air than the Regular model while providing a more uniform, laminar sheet of ions. It can kill a 5kV charge in less than 0.2 seconds from a distance.

When to use it?

Supreme Ion Air Knife FAQ

Maintaining the system is straightforward because the Air Knife actually helps keep the Ion Bar clean by providing a constant “purge” of air. To ensure maximum ion output:

  • Daily: Ensure your compressed air is clean and dry (use a 5-micron filter).
  • Periodically: Turn off the power and wipe the emitter points with a quick-dry solvent like IPA. This prevents “cloverleaf” dust buildup which can shroud the ions.

Static isn’t “cured”; it’s neutralized. If your material hits another roller, guide, or even moves through dry air at high speeds after the Ion Air Knife, friction (tribocharging) will recreate the charge.

The Fix: Position the Supreme Ion Air Knife as the absolute final step before the material is wound, stacked, or packaged.

We strongly advise against it. Ions are “social”—if they are forced through a tube or duct, they will bump into the walls and neutralize themselves before they ever reach your target.

Our Digital Static Meter is your “eyes” in the process. It doesn’t just show a number; it identifies the polarity of the charge (Positive vs. Negative) and the intensity.

  • A successful setup should show a drop from several thousand volts down to nearly zero (±0.05kV) after the air curtain hits the surface.

Not at all. While the power supply generates high voltage (to create the ions), it does so at an extremely low current (milliamps). The total draw is typically less than 50 Watts—roughly the same as a single household lightbulb.

It comes down to Speed and Distance.

  • Choose the Bar Only: For slow-moving webs where you can mount the bar within 1″ of the material.
  • Choose the Supreme Ion Air Knife: For high-speed lines (over 200 FPM), 3D parts, or when you need to remove dust while neutralizing the charge from up to 20 feet away.

For the fastest “decay rates” (neutralization speed), mount the knife 6 to 12 inches away from the material, angled slightly against the direction of travel. This creates a “turbulent bath” of ions that ensures total surface coverage.

Yes. Our system is modular by design. If you already own a Ionizing Bar, you can purchase the Supreme Air Knife separately along with our integration hardware. This is a cost-effective way to “supercharge” your existing static control.

No. Static electricity is a surface-level electrical imbalance, while magnetism is a molecular alignment within the metal. The Ion Air Knife is an expert at neutralizing electrons, but it has no effect on magnetic fields.
Standard ionizing bars create a “corona discharge” (a tiny, high-voltage arc). In areas with high concentrations of solvent vapors or explosive dust, this is a safety risk.
